Data Governance Courses

Scroll down through the sections below to see how I developed the 3-course Data Governance training series. Click here to see samples from the project.

Background

While working for a financial organization, SMEs from the Data Governance department requested assistance in creating a training for a 3-part course that would be available firm wide. The problem was that many employees had lots of questions concerning Data Governance and were making errors in inputting data that affected Data Quality as well as errors in writing business definitions.

Process

During the kick-off meeting, I was able to help them articulate a feasible and measurable business goal for the training as well as learning objectives to keep the training within the scope of the budget and time constraints. Due to these constraints I decided to create the course mostly in Rise for the content portion while using Storyline to create interactive activities (videos, games, scenarios) which can be viewed here.

To determine if the training was successful, the SMEs hoped to see a 20% decrease in errors when customer service reps input data as well as a decrease in errors when writing business definitions.

The Result

SME and stakeholder feedback was very positive after final reviews. The impact of the course is still yet to be seen as the course has not launched yet.

Implementation and Evaluation Plan

After all of the training goes live in 2024 Q1, the plan is to reevaluate the efficacy of the training to see if errors have decreased and make further changes to the training as needed depending on the results and feedback from employees.
